The Guardian Service supports recent proposals to regulate NHS managers but urges careful consideration of the level of management to be included and the consequences of regulation.
Everyone who delivers health and care has a role to play in ensuring the safety and quality of services. However, safety and quality are too often compromised by the cultural environment where care is delivered. Senior leaders set this environment and are ultimately responsible for building a positive culture in which openness is normal, dialogue is encouraged and workers are allowed to thrive.
