GSL FTSU Index report
How good is your speaking up culture?
Are you doing everything you can to improve speaking up, but want to know if it's making a difference?
These are questions that are asked repeatedly, and its with this in mind that we have created the GSL FTSU Index report.
The GSL FTSU Index takes staff perceptions in trusts, measured through the NHS staff survey, as its starting point, because it is what staff feel and think that is your ultimate sign of success. By focussing on a range of indicators, we provide an at-a-glance view of which NHS Trusts have the best speaking up culture and which ones are struggling. Further, because the Index is sensitive to change, we can see which Trusts are making improvements and which ones are falling back.
An overview of the GSL FTSU Index reveals a number of key insights:
- It is possible to buck the trend - the national picture of speaking up shows a general decline in confidence but the GSL FTSU Index shows this trend is not uniform – around a third of Trusts show improvement
- Variation – there is a notable gap between the best and worst performing trusts – the GSL FTSU Index reveals a 26-percentage point difference between the two ends of the spectrum
- Provider type matters – overall, community trusts show the most positive results, ambulance trusts the worst.
