Russ Parkinson

Russ has a background in change management and people engagement, having spent many years as a Whitehall Policy official and corporate development lead.
He helped craft the Department of Health’s response to Sir Robert Francis’ Freedom to Speak Up Review, was a key member of the National Guardian’s Office set-up team and became its Head of Office and Strategy. He has been intimately involved in all aspects of speaking up across the health and care system, and continues to be a key player in shaping speaking up policy and strategy at the national level.
Russ says: “Speaking up improves the lives of workers, enables organisations to be the best they can be, and saves lives. Speaking up should be ‘business as usual’ everywhere but, in practice, everyone encounters barriers that make it more difficult than it might appear.
